What is lip blushing?
Lip Blushing is a semi-permanent makeup technique to enhance the shape, size and color of the lips. It can be used to add slight fullness and correct asymmetries. Lip Blushing can also be used to neutralize dark pigments in one's lip that are either genetic or developed. After your consultation, your permanent makeup artist will carefully select the perfect color for you based on your skin tone and preferences.
Is it right for me?
It can be challenge to know if a procedure will be what you are hoping for or if you are even a good candidate. We always recommend reaching out to us or requesting a free consultation to see if lip blushing is right for you.
If you are tired of constantly reapplying your lipstick and want to just wake up with a beautiful, smudge-free blush of color this could be a game changer. If you get frustrated when lipstick rubs off on your teeth, glass, clothes or a loved one then this might be the perfect solution for you!
But why is it called lip blushing not a lip tattoo?
Lip Blushing has made regular lip tattoos are a thing of the past. The old style lip tattoo were harsh looking and deep in the skin, sometimes leading to scaring. It was also typical for them to just be the outline or lipliner. This doesn't look as natural as having the full lip filled in with color.
This new wave of lip pigmentation called lip blushing has a softer look to it and will fade in a more natural way since it is more shallow in the skin. It may look bold at first but once it heals it looks uber natural!
Is Lip Blushing Painful?
Lip Blushing is slightly more uncomfortable than permanent makeup for the brows. Lips are more vascular and inherently more sensitive. However, we numb your lips for a full 30 minutes and continue to numb throughout the treatment. Most of the discomfort is just in the beginning part of the treatment, then the numbing agent becomes more and more effective. Some clients even fall asleep after that beginning part is over!
My lips are naturally dark. Will Lip Blushing help cover that?
Yes! Your Permanent Makeup Artist is skilled in dark lip neutralization. This requires specialized training. Warmer, lighter colors are needed to adjust the darkness generically present in these cases. For example, a peachy/pink color would just heal pink and the peach tones would neutralize the dark tones in the lips.
How should I plan my Lip Blushing around special events?
You will probably want a 7-10 day cushion after your lip blushing and before a special event. Your lips will be bright and swollen the first few days. Days 3-5 they will go through a little bit of a shedding/scabbing process. The lips might look patchy for up to 6 weeks.
How long will my Lip Blushing last?
Two initial treatments are recommended for lip blushing, (spaced 8-12 weeks apart.) After coming in for your 2 initial treatments you can expect your lip tattoo color to last 1-3 years. However, everyone is different and skin isn't completely predictable. It is possible to need a third treatment if your lips have any dark pigment in them naturally.
What will my results look like when it fades?
Your Lip Blushing results will fade naturally to lighter and lighter shades of the color that you selected with your Artist.
